Finally, our house on Ontario is sold, so no post meeting get together there.

This Saturday, June 2, is our spring Tacoma meeting, Saturday, June 2, at the University of Puget Sound, Wyatt Hall, Room 109 (where we met in Spring 2016). The University of Puget Sound is at 1500 North Warner, Tacoma. The meeting will be 11:00AM - 4:00 PM.

Directions to University of Puget Sound’s Wyatt Hall, from I-5:
• Exit I-5 at Exit 132 (Northbound) or Exit 132B (Southbound) for Highway 16 West towards Bremerton;
• Exit Highway 16 at Exit 1B for Union Avenue.
• Take a right on Union Avenue. After roughly 2 miles, you’ll eventually see UPS on your right; Pass the baseball field and football stadium;
• Take a right on N 14th into parking adjacent to Wyatt Hall.

Following the meeting, at around 4:00 PM, we will adjourn to Cheney Stadium to watch the Rainiers host the Salt Lake Bees (the Angels' AAA affiliate). First pitch is at 5:05

As you may have heard, the Seattle Mariners will not be having Fan Fest this year due to field resurfacing. It is expected to return next year. As such, the annual meeting the Mariners kindly host for you friendly neighborhood Northwest Chapter on SABR Day weekend each year will be moved.

We are having that meeting at the Seattle Pacific University Library Conference Room. This is on the campus of SPU, and was the site of many previous meetings, including our meeting in November. The meeting will be from 12 to 5 PM.

The Presidents Day Weekend meeting is also scheduled, and will be from 12 to 5 PM on February 17. The location will again be the Living Savior Lutheran Church in Tualatin.

Agendas for both meetings will be available by the meeting date. We look forward to seeing you there!

Hi, I didn't have time to write up a meeting recap, but we had an excellent meeting, the kind that can help any true fan weather the winter void between the World Series and that earliest sign of Spring, the day when pitchers and catchers report. Anthony Salazar presented Baseball Cards & Chicano Pop Art. Shannon Drayer from KIRO Radio did a Q&A, a welcome opportunity to talk baseball with The Clubhouse Insider. Shannon is one of the best reporters we have in this new media landscape and it was great to get her insight. Rob Garratt read from and talked about his new book, “Home Team: The Turbulent History of the San Francisco Giants”. Rob provided great background on his long process with this book and how it came about. Billy Mac spoke about his new book, “My Oh My: The Dave Niehaus Story”. Billy knew Dave personally and was able to bring that relationship to the forefront in his presentation. William Christ presented a slideshow of two months spent Motorcycling To All 30 MLB Ballparks. William shared a fascinating presentation. It was a really great meeting, with fascinating speakers who bring a passion for the game from all over the baseball map.

Our January meeting is tentative. As you may have heard, there will be a 1 year hiatus for the Mariners Fan Fest event. We have been trying to secure a space to have a SABR day meeting in January, and will let everyone know as soon as we can.

Regarding the President's Day weekend meeting in February, that will be
Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 12 PM - 5 PM, at the Living Savior Lutheran Church in Tualitin. Bob Russon is putting together the agenda for that and will have that out to members as the meeting gets closer.

Many teams will hold their first full workouts the day of our Oregon meeting, this Saturday 2/18.
The place: Living Savior Lutheran Church, 8740 SW Sagert St., Tualatin. If you haven’t been here before, it’s close to the Nyberg Road exit (289) off of I-5 and there are plenty of places to get take out between the freeway and the church.
The time: 12 PM to 5 PM

Pitchers and catchers report in only 29 days... which means that another SABR Day will soon be upon us.

Let's gather for brunch at John's Place at 11 AM on Saturday January 28th. As always, feel free to bring along any baseball items that would be of interest to the group. The Pacific Northwest Chapter is excited to again participate in Seattle Mariners FanFest in January 2017. Chapter members should look for an email in early January for details on reserving a spot at the meeting. The meeting is our only one of the year that requires reservations. The meeting will be on Sunday, January 29 at 12 noon.

In addition, members who would like to volunteer to staff our information table on the main concourse should look for that email as well. It will also be sent out in early January. Volunteering is a great way to meet the many Mariners fans that show up, answer questions about SABR, and talk baseball!
